COFFEE MORNING

COFFEE MORNING : Our Back to School Coffee Morning was declared an outstanding success. Shortly after the school bell rang to announce the start of the school year the newly bereft parents started to drift towards the main hall of the Community Resource Centre. Before long there was a full house enjoying tea, coffee, cake and chat galore. The fabulous display of locally made art, craft and paintings attracted much admiration.  Thanks to everyone who attended and made a donation to our funds and of course special thanks as always to the organisers. Hopefully this will now be an annual event.

KILKEEDY GRAVEYARD MASS

KILKEEDY GRAVEYARD MASS:
The annual mass at Kilkeedy Graveyard for our deceased relatives and friends took place on Friday evening last August 21st at 7.30pm. Fr. Michael Cussen P.P. led the large attendance and we were blessed with the weather. The graveyard looked splendid thanks to the great work by caretaker Seamus Coughlan and Vincent Kelly. Thanks also to all the families who take the time to tend to their own plots. A big thank you to the Ballybrown Church Choir led by P.J. Carroll and Jim O’Farrell whose singing added greatly to the occasion. Thanks to our readers Anne O Brien and Clara Mc Gann and Eucharistic ministers Margaret Collins, Peggy Cusack, Kieran McCarthy and Willie Ryan. Thanks to the O’Gorman family for allowing us to use their electricity to power the mics and speakers supplied by Declan Tierney and to Barry Tierney and Adrian Mc Gann who were on sound. Thank also to the Ballybrown GAA club for giving us the use of their chairs and to David Guerin and Liam Coughlan for the transporting of same. Thanks to David Dooley for making the altar at such short notice and thanks to Maura Byrnes and Nellie Cosgrave for decorating the altar. A big thank you also goes to our stewards who make the occasion secure and do a wonderful job with the parking both on the night and throughout the year. Thanks to Anthony McGann for his words of praise for all concerned. Thanks again also to the people who during the year donated seats to Kilkeedy Graveyard and these seats are a welcome addition, Helen Curtin, Donie Burke, Sean Fitzgerald Rivermount and The Ballybrown Pioneer Association. Finally a big thank you to everybody who helped out in any way to make the occasion a success once again and of course thanks to the congregation who gave their generous financial support to our collection on the night for the upkeep of the graveyard. The collection amounted to €1500.00 and this money ensures that our Graveyard will remain one that the whole of Ballybrown will be proud of.
