45 DRIVE

45 DRIVE: The weekly 45 card drive in aid of the Ballybrown Community Resource Centre continues each Thursday evening at 8.45pm and your support would be much appreciated. The winners for Thursday April 7 are as follows: 1st prize of €160 was shared by Bridget Lynch with Paddy McCarthy and Paddy Hanrahan with John O’Brien who finished on 9 games. The table prize went to Denis and Eileen Casey. The raffle as follows 1/ €30, Eithne Ryan, 2/ €20, Sean King, 3/ €20, May Doolan, 4/ €10, John O’Gorman, 5/ €10, John O’Brien, 6/ €10, Peggy Cusack. There are just three weeks to go in the league for prize money of €280, ( 1/ €150, 2/ €80, 3/ €50 ). It’s all to play for now and it’s very close at the top with John Doolan and Pauline Culhane on 67, Jimmy McNamara on 65, Michael Stokes and Micheal O’Keeffe on 64, Junior Hogan on 62, Donie Lane and Pat Mulqueen on 61, Brian Barrett and Gerry Moran on 60. Should make for a very interesting next few weeks. See you all on Thursday night. We also send special wishes for a speedy recovery to Maura Byrnes. Hurry back with the boiled cakes and scones Maura.

1916 COMMEMORATION NIGHT

1916 COMMEMORATION NIGHT: Local historian Tom Donovan will give a presentation on the 1916 Easter Rising on Tuesday April 19 in the Ballybrown Community Resource Centre at 8.30pm. All are welcome and entry is free. Refreshments will be served. We are expecting a large turnout so please come early as seating is limited.

COMMUNITY GAMES

COMMUNITY GAMES: We would like to say congratulations to Mary Corby who received a Limerick Service to Sports award last Friday night for her community games volunteering over many years and her commitment to all aspects including administration, Munster games Director, coordinator of National swimming finals, county manager at National finals and her constant willingness to lend a hand where needed. Well deserved, congratulations.

HEALTH & SAFETY TRAINING

HEALTH & SAFETY TRAINING: West Limerick Resources is offering two health and safety workshops for Community Groups this April. On Tuesday April 5 the workshop will focus on basic Health & Safety Training for Community Groups while the April 19 workshop will help participants develop their Safety Statement. Both workshops will take place in West Limerick Resources Offices, St. Mary’s Road Newcastle West from 7pm—9pm. Contact: Dearbhla on 069 62222 to book a place.
 
These initiatives are funded under the Social Inclusion and Community Activation Programme (SICAP) 2015-2017 which is funded by the Irish Government and co-funded by the European Social Fund and includes a special allocation under the Youth Employment Initiative
