BALLYBROWN JOURNAL
BALLYBROWN JOURNAL: The fifteenth edition of the Ballybrown Parish Journal is now on the shelf for sale at €10 with over 170 pages we would think it is great value for money and a great Christmas present to send to any of our exiles overseas or away from home. The Journal was launched on Monday November 30 in the Ballybrown GAA Clubhouse by Fr. Eamonn Fitzgibbon. In front of a very large attendance of over eighty people Fr. Eamonn recounted some of the many items of interest in the Journal. Being a Fedamore man himself, he understands the work and effort that goes into a publication of this nature, they have a parish magazine on the go for over forty years He congratulated the Editorial Committee led by Tom Donovan and he stated that these Journals play a very important part in the history of any parish. Births, deaths, graduations, marriages etc are recorded in the Journal and the collection of past and present photographs make the Ballybrown Journal a must have for any person with Ballybrown / Clarina connections. He stated that he was delighted to be asked by the Ballybrown Pioneer Association to launch the Journal and that he considered it a great honour. The Journal can be purchased at Martin Hayes’s shop in Tervoe or from the Centra Store in Clarina. The proceeds from the sale of the Journal go in full toward the Pioneer Lourdes Fund.
Willie Ryan, on behalf of the Pioneers thanked all who had helped in any way with the publication of the Journal but mainly the sponsors without whose generous financial assistance the Journal would not be viable. He urged readers of the Journal to support all these local business people where possible. On the night the Pioneer President Pat Gallagher presented Monsignor Michael Lane with a family crest to mark his sixty years in the priesthood. We wish Mons. Lane many more years of health and happiness. The Journal is a steal at €10 so make sure you get your copy now before they are all gone, we guarantee you will find many items of interest between the covers and a good read over the Christmas holidays. Thank you.
