ALPHONSUS “LAMB” POWER
ALPHONSUS “LAMB” POWER : It was with deep regret and sadness that we learned of the passing of Phonsie “Lamb” Power on April 8 last in Langley, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada at the age of eighty one. He was born on the Pound Road on January 24 1935. He was a very popular person around the parish. He worked at Hayes’s shop in Tervoe driving the truck. He was also a very staunch member of the Ballybrown GAA Club and was a member of the 1959 Junior Hurling team that won the City Championship. He was also Sacristan in Ballybrown Church during his time living in Ballybrown. He immigrated to Canada in 1963 with his wife Margaret and they raised their family there and he worked in the Island Paper Mills on Annacis Island until his retirement in 1996. His brother William RIP also worked with this company. He came home on many trips on holidays over the past fifty three years and he delighted in meeting up with his old friends and team mates in Ballybrown. To his wife Margaret and his sons Vincent, Aidan and Kevin, and all his family connections we extend our sincere sympathy on their sad loss. His funeral service was held at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Langley on Wednesday April 13 last.
