Easter Rising Presentation

EASTER RISING PRESENTATION :¬†There was a great turnout last Tuesday night April 19 in the Resource Centre for Tom Donovan’s 1916 Easter Rising presentation. The pupils from 2nd, 5th and 6th classes in Ballybrown National School opened the proceedings with the recitation of the proclamation and other interesting facts on the Rising. Tom Donovan dealt with the local ( Limerick) involvement in the rising and had some slides and old photographs to compliment his talk.
A big thank you to Martin, Breda, Colm and Mary Hayes from Tervoe who sponsored the tea and refreshments on the night. Martin Hayes presented Tom Donovan with a 1966 ten shilling piece as a thank you and memento  of the occasion. It was a very informative presentation and was enjoyed by all in attendance.
Willie Ryan and Martin Hayes also had some memorabilia on display and these items added greatly to the occasion. Thanks also to Damien McNamara for the loan of a sword and gun holster dating back to this period. It was Martin Hayes’s brainchild and was a great success judging by the comments from patrons afterwards. Thanks to all who helped in any way on the night.
